Meet the Vendor – The Barn of Nottingham

Choosing a wedding venue in Chester County is often the first vendor that couples book. Searching for the right wedding venue that fits your style, your budget, and the amenities you want for the day can be tricky. Luckily, Chester County has no shortage of stunning venues.
The Barn of Nottingham is an example of an exemplary wedding venue in Central Pennsylvania. With rustic aesthetics and scenic views, The Barn at Nottingham is a gorgeous space for anyone who wants a wedding day that seamlessly combines elegance and rustic style in the Pennsylvania countryside. In an interview with The Barn of Nottingham, their event team discusses what makes the venue so special.
How would you describe the style of your wedding venue?
“I would describe our venue as elegant and rustic.” Located in Nottingham, Pennsylvania, The Barn of Nottingham is on several acres, featuring plenty of locations for a ceremony. “You can get married outside, near a pond; you see beautiful plants and trees. Our venue has everything the countryside has to offer: farmland and rolling hills.”
The gorgeous scenery of The Barn of Nottingham provides a beautiful backdrop for ceremonies, cocktail hours and receptions. Plus, seasonal scenery with blooming flowers in spring and changing leaves in the fall.

What amenities does The Barn of Nottingham offer couples?
“We offer a farmhouse where you can do an entire wedding package.” Couples can use the farmhouse as a place to get ready before the ceremony. “It has three bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and a full kitchen. And couples are welcome to stay there if they’d like as well.” The Barn of Nottingham provides paper products, sheets, and towels, so couples won’t have to bring anything for their stay beyond their personal products.
The venue offers single-day and four-day rentals. “You can rent the venue for a single day and still add the farmhouse for the couple and the wedding party to get ready in.”
Four-day rental packages include the farmhouse and barn from Thursday until Sunday. “A lot of people like to do that because then they can have access to the barn the entire time. Couples may set up on Thursday, do the rehearsal dinner here Friday night, and then have everything ready on Saturday, so [the wedding day is] more relaxed.”
What should couples consider when choosing their venue?
“First and foremost is finding a venue that fits the vision for their wedding. And then looking for one that can accommodate their guest count. I also think they should look for something that’s going to also fit the mood. One thing people say all the time about our venue is they love that it can be indoor and outdoor with the right weather. We have a big door that can open up and create an indoor-outdoor space.”
The open room adds to the atmosphere and brings a casual element to the reception. “If it’s a more casual reception, they can have cornhole, and we have a fire pit with chairs. [The open doors] mean everyone can enjoy the music and the dance floor, but guests can also have a good time around the fire.”
Any wedding trends you’ve been loving?
“Lately, with our outdoor weddings, we’re seeing a lot of couples doing big pots down the aisle with simple flowers and lanterns. It’s not anything complicated, like ‘oh my gosh, how did they do it?’ It’s simplicity. I feel like that simple beauty is back.”
“And that’s one thing I love about the barn. Now, you can go all out and you can decorate this place from head to toe if you want. But because it’s so beautiful and it’s Lancaster County and it has the charm and beauty of a country wedding, you can just do a simple black or white tablecloth with beautiful flowers in the centerpiece. It’s honestly all you need.”
What do you love most about hosting weddings at The Barn of Nottingham?
The stories! “I love the stories! When we first meet couples, they always tell us their story of how long they’ve been dating, when they got engaged. It sounds really silly, but I feel like from the tour until the wedding, you really get to know the couple and the parents and other family members.”
The excitement and personal investment from the staff at The Barn of Nottingham ensures they put care and attention to detail into all of their events. “And we actually get so excited and look forward to our weddings because we feel like we’re part of the family and your big day. So, for us, it’s not just a business transaction. We’re really invested and, same as your family, can’t wait for your day.”
